Too Busy to Pray? Here’s How to Start Again (Without the Guilt)

ree

Today’s journal prompt asked: “Where do you feel stagnant in your faith, and how can you invite God into that space?”

My honest answer? Prayer.

Not because I don’t love God or want to spend time with Him—but because life is busy. Between being a working woman, a momma, a homemaker, a caretaker (and still trying to be a functioning human)... prayer often gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

But here’s the thing—I know I’m not the only one.

Why Prayer Feels Hard (But Matters So Much)

Maybe you’ve said these too:

  • “I don’t have time to pray.”

  • “I don’t know where to start.”

  • “I get distracted.”

  • “It feels awkward.”

  • “I’m not doing it right.”

Here’s the truth:Prayer isn’t a performance. It’s a connection. It’s not about perfect words or long eloquent talks—it’s about making space for God to walk beside us, even in the chaos.

Romans 12:12 reminds us:“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”Not perfect. Just faithful.

5 Grace-Filled Ways to Make Prayer Part of Your Day

  1. Start with 1 minute.Whisper a breath prayer. “God, I’m here.” That’s enough.

  2. Pair prayer with a habit.Morning coffee, drive to work, brushing your teeth—let prayer ride shotgun.

  3. Write it down.Use a prayer journal or just your notes app. He hears it all.

  4. Pray Scripture.Open Psalms. Say the Lord’s Prayer. Let the Word speak for you.

  5. Talk to God like He’s with you. Because... He is. Always.

For the Momma Who Feels Dry

If your prayer life has been quiet lately, I want you to know: You’re not failing. You’re being invited. Not into performance, but into presence.

Let this be the day you turn back toward Him—even in the middle of your busy.

A Simple Prayer

“Lord, I want to talk to You more. My life feels full, but my soul is running dry. Help me return to You, even in the smallest ways. Remind me that You’re near in every moment. Amen.”

You’re not too late. You’re not too messy. You’re not too busy to belong to God. Let’s start again—together.

Just in case you would like a small reminder, here are some prayer cards for you to tuck into your bible, journal or purse. A little bit of faith on the go.
